ocean time at the southbank

the mermaid has just heard of some intriguing events that are taking place at the southbank centre. some of them, if the mermaid understands correctly, part of a science and arts festival (funny landfolk categories the mermaid still has trouble comprehending – the merfolk don’t distinguish those!). the mermaid is especially excited about the visit of fellow ocean ambassador sylvia earle (1 July 2010, 7:30pm, queen elizabeth hall). next up is an event involving flying penguins – that’s right: bird-style! apparently penguins descend from birds – the mermaid has to check up on that in the merfolk chronicles… lastly, there is a special performance of a piece on an unusually rebellious sperm whale called ‘moby dick’. the mermaid will see how much she can fit into her busy schedule…
