the mermaid has just heard of an art project about her current dwelling place, known by landfolk as the river thames. artist mem morrison has called the performance ‘underscore’, as it will involve sound recordings from the river and imitation of thames sounds. the performance will involve a group of 40 people, ‘from a range of backgrounds, ages and experiences, with an interest in performing, singing and making noise. all welcome!’

the mermaid thinks you have to let people know beforehand, if you want to join the human river. workshops are at the following times at the National Opera Studio, 2 Chapel Yard, SW18 4HZ on:

1. Saturday 19 May – 10am-1pm
2. Wednesday 23 May 7pm-10pm

In addition, there is an
all day practice on Sunday 27 May in Wandsworth Park, SW15: 10am-12pm rehearsals.

1pm-5pm performance

if you can’t or don’t want to join, you should come along on sunday to watch along with the mermaid.
